The Spring 2015 Orcas Island Rowing Team returning home after the NW Junior Regional Regatta in Vancouver, WA

Please join Orcas Island Junior Rowing Club for Their Annual Club Dinner At Maple Rock Farm on Sunday June 7th starting at 5 p.m.

This year it is a Pizza Plus dinner. There will be large quantities of delicious pizzas made to order in the wood fired oven. Just like the ones served at Hogstone Pizza in Eastsound. Plus there will be lots of other delicious food including appetizers and deserts so you never have to go hungry. You can eat from the time you get there. There will also be beer, wine and soft drinks included in the entry fee. It is $30 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under. This is OIR’s once a year celebration where they invite the Orcas community and beyond to come and meet the team and celebrate another fun and successful year of rowing.

You can buy tickets in advance if you see any rowers selling tickets, you can go to the OIR web site: https://OrcasIslandRowing.org to buy tickets online or to make a donation if you can’t join them on the day. If you don’t connect in advance you can just turn up at Maple Rock Farm on the day. You are strongly recommended to car pool as parking will be limited.

Maple Rock Farm : https://www.maplerockfarm.com is located on Orcas Island at 845 Pinneo Road, Eastsound, WA, 98245. Contact by email at : steward.mrf@gmail.com. Hogstone Pizza https://www.hogstone.com is located in Eastsound on the corner of Main Street and Haven Road.

The event is a fund raiser, but there are no auctions or other distracting activities. As much as anything the eveningis an opportunity for Orcas Rowing to connect with the broader community. Of course the club appreciates the income from the dinner and any donations. Two of our rowers that have been with the club for 5 years are graduating this year Melanie Flint and Jay Zier. We want to congratulate them and wish them all the best in their lives.

The current junior crew is particularly competitive and medalled several times at the NW Regional. Such a small club as Orcas placing strongly in regional and sometime national competition is very impressive. The wider rowing community is really starting to pay attention to Orcas Island Rowing. They are on the map. Pay attention because they are going to really focus on a long term agenda for success next Spring. Your local junior crew team will make you proud to be from Orcas Island.

Contact Martin Taylor martin@orcasdigerati.com or 360.376.6935 for reservations and information or buy tickets online at the rowing club’s web site: www.orcasislandrowing.org. Donations are also gratefully accepted online or by check : Orcas Island Rowing, c/o Martin Taylor, 455 Eastsound Shores Road, Eastsound, WA, 98245.
