I have just received a scam email that is localized to look like news about a local person from Lopez Island making money at home with “Easy Google Profit ” and “My Internet Payday.”
This one is particularly attractive because of the use of “Lopez resident – Mary Steadman”
These are scams. Checking Snopes.com has more detail about such “get rich at home” scams.
An internet search shows “Mary Steadman” has been posting such ads for a while from San Jose, CA and Charleston, IL and Phoenix, AZ and Tucson, AZ and Pueblo, CO, and Charlotte, NC etc.
“I hope we can help local people avoid internet”get rich” scams in these tough times,” Thomerson wrote.
