||| FROM LYNN BAKER for ORCAS CHORAL SOCIETY |||
Come, enjoy, and sing along, as Orcas Choral Society presents its spring concert, Songs of Shadow and Light, at Orcas Center, Saturday, May 18 at 7 p.m. and again Sunday, May 19 at 2 p.m.
The entire concert is by living English composer John Rutter, so popular in England that six of his works were performed in the coronation of King Charles III last year.
“Rutter takes us on a wild ride, from the sublime to the downright silly,” Artistic Director Bruce Langford said. “We start with his contemplative and lyrical Requiem, then move to spirituals, spring songs, and a touch of jazz.”
Members of the Orcas Youth Chorus join the adult choir, and will also sing a short, free concert on their own in the Madrona Room at 6 p.m., May 18 and 1 p.m. May 19.
Tickets for Songs of Shadow and Light are available at Orcas Center. Join us!
