||| FROM LYNN BAKER for ORCAS CHORAL SOCIETY |||
This May, transport your soul as Orcas Choral Society wafts you from the everyday to a world of Glory, Grandeur & Gospel.
The spring concert resounds with voices and a brass ensemble uplifted in music of three centuries – all very different and very joyful.
“We start with a Gloria, vibrant and filled with pathos, by living English composer John Rutter,” said OCS Artistic Director Bruce Langford. “Then we literally surround you with antiphonal works by Renaissance composer Giovanni Gabrieli, first sung from four sides of St. Mark’s Cathedral in Venice. We’ll bring it home with four American spirituals for a rousing
conclusion to a concert with something for everyone.”
Immerse yourself in Glory, Grandeur & Gospel at the Orcas Center, Saturday, May 17 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 18, at 2 p.m. Tickets, available on the Orcas Center website or at OrcasChoralSociety.org, are at Orcas Center pricing for adults and $5 for youth 12-18. Children under 12 attend free.
