It’s time for candidates for this year’s Mayoral Campaign to step up and declare their candidacy for Eastsound Mayor.  Any animal (with the exception of Homo sapiens — you know how awful they behave when in public office!) is eligible to run, including feathered, furry, hairy or scaled ones able to ambulate on four legs, two legs or slither.

Canine Klara, our present Mayor, is beside herself knowing that her term is about to end. But I’ve been assured by Michael and Jeffry, proprietors of Crow Valley Pottery, she will relinquish the Key to Eastsound given the proper command —  like dropping a ball when told to do so.

The kickoff for this year’s event will be the Pet Parade on May 28th, thanks to Amber Paulson of Kaleidoscope.  Meanwhile, you can register your pet candidate by calling Susan Anderson at Children’s House, 376-4744.

Remember, this is a fundraiser (or is it a FUNraiser?) for Children’s House, a non-profit preschool early learning center here on Orcas.  It’s for our children!
