— from Ady Walker for Orcas Island Children’s House —
With schools closed to slow the spread of COVID 19, Children’s House continues to support children and families with what we do best — play. We felt we could help and provide novelty, levity, and hands-on learning materials for children sheltering in place and developed a system to do so safely.
Each week, a special bag of books, toys, and materials is curated for each child for curbside pick up at Children’s House. It has been a joy to see photos of children diving into their weekly bags at home.
This service is provided at no cost to families and has been extended to families referred by the Orcas Community Resource Center and children receiving special education services. This program is featured in the special GiveOrcas catalog for critical services on Orcas Island and is only made possible by donations from Friends of Children’s House like you.
These times are challenging for most. This makes every donation and contribution more meaningful — weighted with love and sacrifice. You have been there for children of Orcas Island in the past. If you can, please show your love for the children of today.
Thank you for being a part of the Children’s House family!
