The WISH BOOKS will be on sale at Darvill’s Weds. May 7th until the Book Fair and then at the Book Fair May 14-16

— from Brook Meinhardt —

Always working to instill and nourish the joy of reading, Darvill’s Bookstore joins the Orcas Island School District and the PTSA in celebrating National Children’s Book Week (May 12 through May 16). Children’s book authors and illustrators will be holding interactive presentations on their book topics, their experiences in becoming authors and illustrators and other great books our children will enjoy. Sally Hodson and Ann Jones will be reading Granny’s Clan, Katherine Pryor will be reading Sylvia Spinach and Thor Hanson will be reading selections from his books Feathers, The Impenetrable Forest and from his mothers book Flickas Round Trip.

Our local high-school kids will also be talking with the elementary students about their favorite children’s books throughout their elementary school days. Additionally, the teachers have developed exciting lists of books they recommend for students along with special WISH BOOKS they would love to have available in their classrooms. (The WISH BOOKS will be on sale at Darvill’s Weds. May 7th until the Book Fair and then at the Book Fair May 14-16)

Darvill’s has worked with publishers and distributors to pull together this full selection of quality recommended books to be offered for sale at the school during the book sale May 14th, 15th and 16th from 10:00am – 3:30pm in the school library. The Book Fair is open to the public.

Profits from the sales are being donated to the School Library.

Please join us in the celebration of reading.
