Malachi and Zion preparing the salad: Did we forget the dressing?

Malachi looks a little concerned, but Zion is as cool as a cucumber as they prepare to serve dinner to three residents at Orcas Loving Care, a private assisted-living home owned by Tim and Daphne Tyree. Soon two more children, Cadence and Trinity, from Lighthouse Christian Center, arrive to help. This was the children’s first service project.

When dinner began, Malachi began by saying grace, and ages 5 to 100 years old ate the all American favorites of macaroni and cheese, ice cream, and Snickerdoodles. After rinsing the dishes and putting them in the dishwasher, the children were excited to play with Tim and Daphne’s daughter, Satine, and her energetic little white dog. When Malachi was asked how he felt about helping at Orcas Loving Care, he shrugged his shoulders and asked, “What did we do?”  So like children to bring laughter, joy, and good works into lives and not even know it!
