Thank you, Charles!!

Thank you, Charles!!

The school cafeteria was packed from the first class coming in at 11:30 to the last guest at 12:45 – and a few stragglers close to 1. It wasn’t chaotic, but it was bustling with a throng of happy kids and adults cobbling down a beautiful lunch of fresh chicken tamales, chili bean soup, lime coleslaw, rice, and his incredibly good chocolate pudding.

Charles’s previous record was 325.  Madden Surbaugh of the Outlook Inn recently beat that with 352.  Charles came back and whipped the pants off Madden with a total of 386 lunches served.  Do I see a rematch in the future?

Thanks to EVERYONE who pitched in to make hundreds of tamales, including Paula Towne’s Culinary Class and several community volunteers and students to also made tamales and came to help serve, control the crowd and keep things clean during lunch.

Are there other chefs on Orcas that would like a chance to beat Charles’s record?  Call me!  Madie Murray 376-3371.
