Change is inevitable, a sign of both vitality and decay.
Taking a walk through Eastsound recently, Orcas Issues publisher Margie Doyle had camera in hand to capture just some of the recent changes in our seaside village.

You forgot the most picturesque of all, the 4 houses next to the liquor store. If I was to vote, they would be awarded the prize as the ugliest, most out of tune with the village and overall worst sight to behold. Not only did they create an eyesore but they put a concrete parking
lot in front and took away parking, which we need, on the street. Hopefully, the houses on Haven Road will not be as grotesque and parking will not become an issue.
Like it or not, Eastsound has become a boutique town. There was always (last 50 years anyway) a building on the lot across from the Inn. We can only hope that people with money have good taste. My fingers are crossed.
A petition to repaint the condos next to the liquor store? White is NOT right…….
Bill Gingic ..You are so right in many ways…The village should never have approvedSHED ROOFS and parking should be hidden behind… But who ever is the architect should hang his/ her head in shame.
I agree with you guys, Bill and Tony, those WHITE squares are an absolute eyesore. On the most part, the closures of all are going to be missed terribly. But so far, the new tenants have kept to the original look of the village. And that’s what new builders should have first on their priority list. Blend in, don’t stand out. Use your common sense. And whoever okayed those architectural plans should be really embarrassed.
