||| FROM B.J. ARNOLD for ORCAS ISLAND ARTWORKS |||
The Orcas Island Artworks features new paintings in oil by Chandelle Anderson through the month of June. Chandelle is a new member of Orcas Island Artworks. Alongside her ceramic work, Chandelle also enjoys painting and drawing.
This series began as an experiment in color perception. She says “the process is meditative and methodical. Translucent layers of blue, yellow, and red, are applied separately between semi-opaque layers of white. Each layer is allowed to dry fully before applying the next. This subtle layering effect blends the color in the eye rather than on the canvas, to create depth and luminosity in the same way as separate wavelengths of light.”
Orcas Island Artworks located in Olga, is a cooperative gallery featuring over 40 members. It offers a carefully curated selection of fine art and handcrafted pieces by talented, passionate artists who call Orcas Island home. Visitors can explore one-of-a-kind works that reflect the unique spirit of the San Juan Islands. The gallery is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
