Baritone Philip Cutlip comes to the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival this year

KING-FM at 98.1 Previews Festival Tonight! (Aug. 9)

Momentum is building for the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival, which begins Friday, August 12th.

The Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival gets off to a very public start this week when it’s previewed on KING-FM, 98.1.  Announcer Sean MacLean will present music and concert information about the Festival on Classical KING-FM’s Northwest Focus program, which airs weeknights at 8 pm.  Don’t miss his program on Tuesday, Aug. 9th which features Mozart’s Clarinet Trio in E-flat, K.498 “Kegelstatt” at approximately 8:34 pm.  You can hear this work in person at the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival on Friday, Aug.12th at 7:30 pm and Saturday, Aug. 13th at 5:00 pm during “A Poet’s Love.” It will be performed by Owen Kotler, clarinet, Aloysia Friedmann, viola and Jon Kimura Parker, piano.

And tune in Thursday, Aug. 11th when KING-FM features Debussy’s Cello Sonata in D minor at approximately 8:33 pm.  This work will be performed by Desmond Hoebig, cello and Jon Kimura Parker, piano, during “The Archduke” concerts Tuesday, Aug. 16th at 7:30 pm and Wednesday, Aug. 17th at 5:00 pm.

There are still great seats left, particularly for several of the 5:00 pm concerts:  Saturday, Aug. 13th, Wednesday, Aug. 17th and Wednesday,Aug. 24thInternationally renowned opera star Philip Cutlip will take your breath away in his Festival debut, performing with world famous pianist Jon Kimura Parker.

Canada’s celebrated Gryphon Trio makes their long-awaited debut on Orcas, and will perform Beethoven’s greatest Piano Trios. The 5:00 concerts are a great choice if you want to have dinner after the concert, or if you just want to get home before dark.
