Michele Marshall, Office Cupboard owner, is the new President of the Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce. On Wednesday, March 24, she was introduced to Chamber members at the “Business at Sunset Mixer” held at the Outlook Inn. Appetizers were provided by the New Leaf Cafe.
Michele spoke briefly, telling of her 11 years at Microsoft, and the lessons she learned from her mentor there: to be passionate about your work; to give every customer a satisfying experience; and to entertain ideas from everyone in your organization.
Lance Evans, Executive Director of the Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce, introduced new members A. Lister and Associates, Angel’s Food Catering and Island Trail Rides, and American Cancer Society’s new Community Relations Manager Taryn Somers. Buttons with the new “Orcas First” campaign logo were also handed out at the gathering.
The event was also a “proofing party” to review the final draft of the 2010 Visitor Guide & Map, before it goes to the printer tomorrow, and then is distributed among island venues and the Washington State Ferries.
