Orcas Islanders will share portions of their lives as well as memories of local history–in the form of artifacts, art objects and personal memorabilia–in Orcas Center’s month-long holiday event.  The exhibit, “Island Treasures,” sponsored by the Visual Arts committee, will open Friday, December 4, with a reception at 5:30 p.m. in the Madrona room.

Items promised for display to date indicate a very wide variety of exhibits, says Joe Floren, show director.  They range from treasured art works to childhood toys; from antique farm implements and hand-made tools to old photographs, newspapers and personal letters;  from rustic furniture to elaborate handcrafted quilts and clothing; and from innovative useful items to articles of pure whimsy. Entries will be accepted at the Center on December 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
