It doesn’t get better than sipping great Washington wine and tasting delicious local cuisine on the gorgeous shores of Orcas Island. Join us on Saturday, June 2nd, and Sunday June 3rd, for the 1st Annual DOE BAY WINE FESTIVAL on the bluff at Doe Bay Resort and Retreat.
We’ve invited more than a dozen award-winning winemakers from around Washington State, including Kevin Cedergreen from Cedergreen Cellars, Meg Gilbert from Gilbert Cellars and Justin Neufeld from JB Neufeld in Yakima; Christian Sparkman from Sparkman Cellars in Woodinville; Caleb Foster of Buty Winery in Walla Walla and others to pour their favorite wines. Several Orcas Island chefs, including Abigael Birrell of Doe Bay Cafe; Lisa Nakamura of Allium, Geddes Martin of Inn at Ship Bay will cook up amazing dishes using island-fresh fish, meat and produce. Buck Bay Shellfish Farm will be on hand to shuck fresh oysters from their beach just two miles down the road from Doe Bay. Our local sponsor, Orcas Historical Museum will present a special exhibit of historical photographs during the weekend, giving guests a chance to get to know the fascinating history and lore of Doe Bay and Orcas Island.

SATURDAY, JUNE 2: “Green Wine” Tasting Seminar, 2-3:30 pm, $25
Where does your wine come from? In this tasting seminar, 30 guests will taste a selection of delicious Certified Organic, Biodynamic and Salmon-Safe wines, while Seattle magazine wine writer Shannon Borg and organic winemaking pioneer Brent Charnley of Lopez Island Vineyards and Winery discuss wineries and vineyards that are committed to sustainable wine practices, and how you can support these efforts by drinking great wine.
Meet the Winemakers Tasting and Seattle Old-time Stringband “Rabbit Stew,” 7-10 pm, $10 for 10 tastes; donations for the band
Enjoy an evening of American roots music while chatting with participating winemakers and tasting a sampling of wines that will be presented at the Grand Tasting (and a few surprises).
SUNDAY, JUNE 3: Grand Tasting, 1 – 4 pm, $25 (for 25 tasting tickets; additional tickets available at the tasting)
Enjoy a wine and food-filled afternoon under a tent by the Salish Sea. More than a dozen winemakers will pour some of their favorite wines, paired with tasty bites from six local chefs, who will be cooking up some of the regions delicious meat, sustainably caught seafood, locally foraged wild foods, and locally grown produce. Enjoy old-time fiddle, banjo, and guitar music by Seattle’s Rabbit Stew.
