From the San Juan County Land Bank

Start by attending the Master Gardener Native Plant Sale from 9 – 12 Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the San Juan County Fair Grounds in Friday Harbor, the Orcas Grange, and Sunset Builders on Lopez Island. Even if you didn’t get your order in for the native plants listed on the pre-order form, extra plants from that list are available and can be purchased on the day of the sale.  There will also be Shore Pine, Deer Fern, and Sword Fern for sale on the 26th.  Come early for the best selection.  For questions, call 378-4414 or 378-2780.

Then on Sunday, February 27, help the Land Bank plant native species from the sale at Beaverton Marsh Preserve.  Learn about the Land Bank’s ongoing wetland restoration efforts at the marsh.  The event will be from 12 – 4, beginning with an interpretive talk.  Food and hot beverages will be provided.  Park at the corral 1/3 mile north of Sutton Road on Roche Harbor Road.

The Beaverton Marsh planting event will also be repeated on Saturday, March 5 – same time, same place.  Both dates are rain-or-shine, so be sure to wear rubber boots, warm work clothes, and rain gear.  For more information, call 378-4402 or go to https://www.sjclandbank.org
