This Sunday July 2 at 6 p.m., come to the Village Green to witness the guitar virtuoso, Carl Verheyen live in concert as part of the FREE Summer Concert Series presented by Orcas Center, OrcaSong Farm, Country Corner, and The Outlook Inn.
Carl Verheyen, recognized as “One of the World’s Top 10 Guitarists” by Guitar Magazine and “One of the Top 100 Guitarists of All Time” by Classic Rock magazine is bringing his four-member Carl Verheyen Band back to Orcas Island. In addition to his solo career, Verheyen has been Supertramp’s lead guitarist for three-plus decades and has performed on dozens of the most popular TV shows and movies of all time.
Separately, he has also been touring throughout the past year with Police drummer Stewart Copeland, who hired Carl to join him on a series of concerts with major symphonies across the US, playing re-arranged Police classics. Carl’s band includes longtime collaborator and bassist Dave Marotta (Phil Collins, Gino Vanelli, Neil Diamond), ace drummer John Mader (Hamilton the musical, John Fogerty) and the newest addition to his band, keyboardist and guitarist Troy Dexter (Wilson Phillips). Together, these world-class musicians perform a stunning mix of rock, blues, jazz, country, and more.
Verheyen’s 40+ years of solo, band, and studio guitar work have progressed to where hardly a day goes by during which anyone with access to music, movies, or television doesn’t hear him. As a first-call studio guitarist, Verheyen is the guitar behind some of the most popular TV shows (Seinfeld, Frasier, Cheers, Happy Days, LA Law, Married with Children, among others) and movies (Cars, Star Trek, The Usual Suspects, Ratatouille, The Negotiator, hundreds more) of all time. In addition to his duties as Supertramp’s lead guitarist, he has performed and recorded with a who’s-who of music giants, ranging from the great BB King, to Cher, Brad Paisley, Christina Aguilera, The Bee Gees, and hundreds of others.
Verheyen provided one-on-one guitar lessons for John Fogerty and was a featured soloist at the Academy Awards, playing live to a TV audience of more than 67 million. He has released 14 of his own CDs, mixing band music with solo efforts such as “Alone,” a solo acoustic improvisational release. Don’t miss this FREE concert from these legendary musicians!
