Artists’ Weekend on Canoe Island
Art For the Artistically Afraid with Lopez Island Artist Nancy Bingham: A Scholarship Fund benefit. Friday-Sunday, June 1-3 Ages: 16 (with a parent) and up. Cost: $325; $100 is a tax-deductible. Nancy Bingham (www.nancybingham.com) will bring her popular art workshop to Canoe Island. Whether you are a total beginner or an experienced “plein air artiste”, you will tap into your own creative energy as you learn to sketch, draw, mix color, and paint with watercolors in a safe, friendly, and fun environment. By the end of the weekend you will own these basic skills to incorporate into your creative life and build upon in any direction you choose. The tuition includes gourmet meals from Friday evening through Sunday lunch, transportation to and from ferry-served islands, art supplies, use of all facilities and recreation equipment (heated swimming pool, tennis racquets and court, sailboats, kayaks, etc.), housing in tipis with beds, linens and towels provided. $100 is a tax-deductible donation to the CIFC scholarship fund.

Join Kris Lowe, Heart-Filled Yoga instructor(www.heartfilledyoga.com) for morning and evening yoga classes, then sail, kayak, swim in the heated pool, play tennis, hike or just relax on Canoe Island. We’ll do relaxing yoga Friday and Saturday evenings and strenuous classes each morning. Do as much or as little as you choose. Kris is an excellent yoga instructor who makes you feel comfortable no matter what your yoga experience is.

Cooking class to benefit Canoe Island French Camp scholarship fund: June-8-10; ages: 16 (with parent) and up. Cost: $750 per person, $650 for non-cooking participant; $300 is tax-deductible.
Learn to make beautiful, handcrafted pastries from French dessert chefs Laurence Sourzat, Jean Marc Vareil, and Jean-Pierre Meignaud, who have been trained in some of the best maisons in France and have worked in Cannes, Paris, Aix en Provence and Monaco. Classes will be taught in English or with the assistance of translation.
Each class will be limited to 6 participants for a total of 18. Spouses or adult friends not interested in the cooking classes may come for a reduced rate, while still enjoying gourmet meals and the recreation of the island.
