Pâtisserie By the Sea Benefits French Camp Scholarships

Canoe Island French Camp has a new and exciting scholarship fund benefit this spring, “The Art of French Pastry and Chocolate: A Scholarship Fund Benefit for Canoe Island French Camp.”

At the workshop, students will learn to make beautiful gourmet pastries on private Canoe Island, when dessert chefs from France come for a private instructional weekend to raise money for the scholarship fund of the French language and culture summer camp.

The weekend event will take place Friday-Sunday, June 3-5, 2011.

The cost is  $750 per person, of which  $500 is tax deductible, and $650 for non-cooking participants, of which  $350 is tax deductible. Canoe Island French Camp is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization,  hence, part of the tuition is tax-deductible.

French pâtissiers and chocolatiers, Laurence Sourzat of Avignon and Jean Marc Vareil and Jean-Pierre Meignaud of Toulon have been trained in some of the finest maisons of France and have worked in Cannes, Paris, Aix en Provence and Monaco.

Classes will be in English or with assistance though translation. Adult participants will be limited to 6 per class, for a total of 18. Spouses or adult friends not interested in the cooking classes may come for a reduced rate.  Everyone can take part in the recreation the island offers as well as all meals and lodging.
