Lopez Island artist Nancy Bingham will bring her popular art workshop, “Art for the Artistically Afraid” to Canoe Island. Whether you are a total beginner or an experienced “plein air artiste”, you will tap into your own creative energy as you learn to sketch, draw, mix color, and paint with watercolors in a safe, friendly, and fun environment. By the end of the weekend you will own these basic skills to incorporate into your creative life and build upon in any direction you choose.
The tuition includes gourmet meals from Friday evening through Sunday lunch, transportation to and from ferry-served islands, art supplies, use of all facilities and recreation equipment (heated swimming pool, tennis racquets and court, sailboats, kayaks, etc.), housing in tipis with beds, linens and towels provided.
When: Friday-Sunday, June 1-3
Where: Canoe Island (private island in the center of the San Juans)
Ages: 16 and up
Price: $325; $100 is a tax-deductible donation to the CIFC scholarship fund.

Canoe Island French Camp is one of the country’s premier French residential camps, where children, ages 9-16, take part in French language and culture through artistic and outdoor activities. “Art for the Artistically Afraid” this weekend is the last “adult weekend” before the summer sessions for children and youth begin.
