Artists and Artisans are sought for two upcoming shows at Orcas Center:
Island Bounty: Running Sept 30 – November 16. Are you an artist who works with natural island resources? Do you spin yarn from local sheep or alpaca, work with Madrona wood, or otherwise use the bounty of our islands to fabricate your creations? Might you paint rural island landscapes, farm scenes, or capture our agricultural setting in other ways? Farm tools repurposed into art? Restored farm trucks? Photographs or films, local wood craft, even seaweed and salmon sculpture welcome!
The Visual Arts Committee (VAC) of Orcas Center and the San Juan Islands Agricultural Guild are partnering to create a unique fall show entitled, Island Bounty. This curated exhibition aims to honor and highlight the beauty and foods that come from our islands as well as the talented artists and artisans in our region. Timed as the launch to the popular annual Island Grown Farm Tours, this is a celebration of our agricultural heritage and island bounty.
If you would like your work to be featured at Orcas Center during this show, please contact Marcy Montgomery at support@sanjuanmakersguild.com with photos of your work, or a link to your website/social media. We are seeking to highlight multiple artists for this show which will open on September 30 and run through November 16. We would like artists to be present for the Art Opening, 4-7 p.m. on September 30 to discuss their work and potentially provide demonstrations.
Handmade Holidays – A Seasonal Marketplace: Running November 18-December 18. Get ready for the winter holidays and a special Art Show/Marketplace at Orcas Center!
