— from Artha Kass —
Performances: December 10 thru 14, 6:30 PM
This year Orcas Center begins an all new, local musical production, based on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. The adaptation is by Deborah Sparks, music and lyrics by Jim Bredouw and directed by Jake Perrine.
The following dates and times are for auditions for all characters with speaking/singing parts and for those that wish to be villagers.
Auditions for characters with lines and songs will be on a first come first served basis. On the days of the auditions, a volunteer will take your name and give you “sides” (scripted scenes you read through) and a time for your audition which will be on the same days.
Those wishing to be villagers need only to sign up and leave an email address on audition dates. This is a terrific show for families to be together on stage as Villagers without many rehearsals. Villagers limited to 50 people, so sign up! Required of Villagers: Wear a costume, show up for scheduled rehearsals, follow direction, and most importantly, have FUN. Villagers who wish to sing and dance (contra dance) will be in entire show.
AUDITIONS DATES at Orcas Center (for LEADS or to sign up as Villagers):
Sunday, September 14 – 1:00 to 3:00 PM – Center Stage
Sunday, September 21 – 1:00 to 3:00 PM – OffCenter

Thanks Artha! A few additions:
-If auditioning for a singing character, please prepare a verse and chorus (16 bars or so) of a song you can sing a cappella that features your voice nicely.
-If you would like to be a villager and cannot make it to either audition day, email me at jake@jakeperrine.com and give me your contact info.
See you there! Its going to be fun!
-Jake Perrine, director
Were there open auditions for the major parts?
Have I missed something?
Once, there was an Orcas Center tradition that all parts — each and every one — were open to anyone who wished to audition for them.
It seems as if that is no longer the case.
And so, thus passes real community theater.
