Cal McLachlan tells of growing up in the Deer Harbor area.

Sunday March 18 at 3 p.m. at the Senior Center

This month the Orcas Island Historical Museum will feature storytelling by Deer Harbor native Cal McLachlan on Sunday March 18 at 3 pm.  Born in 1926 on his family’s Pole Pass property, Cal worked in the Deer Harbor cannery as a youth as well as on fishing boats.  Later, while in the Service, he was aboard the last US warship to be attacked in WWII. Cal subsequently taught at Anacortes Junior High School for 30+ years and eventually became its principal.   In 1987 the McLachlan family celebrated 100 years since their ancestors first homesteaded in the Deer Harbor area.

These interactive, informative and fun monthly gatherings take place at the Orcas Senior Center once a month on Sunday afternoons.  Finger food and refreshments served.  Admission:  donation at the door.  Call 376-4849 for more information.
