— from San Juan County Communications —

As of noon today, August 29, 2018, the burn ban for campfires and charcoal barbeques is lifted in San Juan County. Recent humidity levels, rising fuel moistures, and precipitation in the county have warranted a lift on the burn ban enacted last week.

We would like to remind all visitors and residents of San Juan County that this ban only applies to campfires and barbeques. Residential burning, burning of yard waste with a permit, and commercial burning, with a permit, will resume sometime in October.

Please refer to the San Juan County Fire Marshal’s Website: https://www.sanjuanco.com/1088/Fire-Marshal

Also note that burning rules in State Parks may have different rules follow this link for more information:

Have a safe holiday weekend.
