From San Juan County Sheriff Rob Nou

Sheriff’s deputies on Orcas Island are investigating two recent school burglaries, the first reported July 7 at the High School, and the other reported July 10 at the Elementary School.

Property taken in the High School burglary includes new mobile radios for school buses, Apple MacBook and iPad computers, and cell phones. Parts of the school were ransacked in the process.

From the Elementary School, a small safe was taken, along with several boxes of energy bars. Several hundred dollars in damage to the school was reported in that break in.

Anyone with information regarding either burglary or the property taken should contact the Sheriff’s Office at 378-4151. School burglaries victimize the entire community, and rob us of precious resources that are dedicated to educating our kids. Those responsible should clearly be held accountable.
