||| FROM BRUCE HANNA |||
Our clocks revolted
Yesterday
Refused to move forward
Perhaps reflecting on a season
Buds, flowers, long days
Wanting to linger
First the dryer clock
Set to work on a heavy load
But stayed in place
Others joined in
Sneaking backward
Minute here, minute there
Then the microwave beckoned
“Push my buttons big guy…
if you can find the right ones”
By evening
each proclaimed
Its own time was right
So I stepped in
Set Standard Time
Quelled the revolution
Got them going again
But I can already hear whispers
Now they like this lazy time
Suppose in six months
I’ll have to step in again
Coax them to move ahead an hour
