Actors Theater of Orcas Island is pleased to present “Brilliant Traces,”a full length play by Cindy Lou Johnson. Start with a woman (played by Joan Cusack in the original New York production) fleeing from her life, add in a hermit who has withdrawn from civilization and mix them together in a remote cabin in the wilds of Alaska during a blizzard and you have a play that will keep you spellbound from start to finish.
Director Doug Bechtel says “Brilliant Traces” will surprise you and stay with you far after the end of the play. The special quality of the play starts with the quirky script and the universal story it tells. Melinda Milligan as Rosannah DeLuce and Norm Stamper as Henry Harry will delight you as they inhabit these charming and off beat characters. The evocative set by Bill Westlake provides the backdrop for this story of love and loss. You do not want to miss this play.”
The New York Times said “[this play] deals with common issues of love and family, and does so with characters, story and dialog so fantastic that they could only exist within the enchanted realm of the stage.” The New Yorker Magazine said “Brilliant Traces is one of those plays in which a man and a woman battle it out in a small enclosed space,
alternately repulsing and seducing each other.”
Brilliant Traces opens on Friday, September 4th at the Grange with additional performances on Saturday, September 5th, Friday, September 11th, Saturday, September 12th and Sunday, September 13th. All shows are at 7:30PM. Tickets are $10 and are available at Darvill’s or at the door. This play is suitable for all ages.
