The Friends of the Orcas Island Library have been preparing for the Winter Book Sale, to be held this year on Saturday, Feb. 21, ever since last summer’s Library Fair on the Village Green in Eastsound. As books are donated for the sale to the library, Friends board members and volunteers sort them in a back room of the library on Rose Street and transport them to a storage unit.
This Friday afternoon, volunteers will transport the books to the Orcas School cafeteria, and on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., booklovers can happily browse through category tables to make their selection.
Two Library Trustees will be also be present at the book sale with information about the possible Library expansion project. The Library Board is urging people to stop by their table and pick up some information and share their opinions on this proposed project.
Hardback books will be priced at $2 each or 3 for $5, paperbacks are $1 each or 3 for $2, Children’s books are 25 or 50 cents, and most CDs, videos, DVDs and tapes are 50 cents, says Winter Book Sale organizer Ulanah McCoy.
There will also be “specially-priced” books — first editions, rare and other extraordinary books.
“Come early for the best selection,” says McCoy.
