The Orcas Island Public Library and San Juan County Master Gardeners welcome Jennifer Jewell, host of the NPR podcast “Cultivating Place” and author of several gardening books including her new book called “What We Sow” this Friday, August 23rd at 6:30 pm.
Jewell is the founder of Jewellgarden and Cultivating Place, and achieves her mission through her writing, photographs, exhibits about and advocacy for gardens & natural history and through her weekly public radio program and podcast Cultivating Place: Conversations on Natural History and the Human Impulse to Garden, on gardens as integral to our natural and cultural literacy.
“What We Sow” is a tale of what we choose to see and what we haven’t been taught to see, what we choose to seed, and what we choose not to seed. It urgently proves that we must work hard to preserve and protect the great natural diversity of seed.
