— from Susannah Weaver for Orcas Center —
Celebrate the season with the truly beloved holiday favorite A Christmas Carol starting December 13 on Center Stage. A Christmas Carol will run for five performances, December 13-17, 7:30 p.m. with a Saturday matinee on December 16 at 2 p.m.
Orcas Center will feature the traditional island version of A Christmas Carol with Melinda Milligan directing an all-island cast in the beloved play we’ve been seeing for many years. The play will feature the same heartwarming original music composed by Jim Bredouw, plus the addition of some new and exciting twists. Expect surprises as Scrooge, Marley, and the three Ghosts come to life before you.
The message of the play, that we all have the power to become kinder, wiser, and more generous towards our fellow human beings, is as timeless and important as ever. Come spend a holiday evening (or matinee) with Scrooge and friends to listen to uplifting music, laugh, have fun with your neighbors, and feel inspired to make our lives better. Bring the whole family for a heartwarming night of theatre. We hope you will join us for the reception following the Opening Night production of A Christmas Carol on Wednesday, December 13 in the Madrona Room.
Consider joining us on Friday, December 15 for a fabulous holiday evening of theatre, arts, and dining. Prior to a sensational performance of A Christmas Carol, Matia Dinner Series and Doe Bay Wine Company will offer a multi-course dinner menu highlighting local and seasonal products along with carefully curated wine selections in the Orcas Centers’ Madrona Room. Tickets are available for purchase for this one night event for $75.
Check the Orcas Center website for a sneak preview of the 4 Course Family Style Menu. Doe Bay Wine Company has carefully curated a collection of memorable wines to be paired with each course. These pairings will feature small, dynamic producers from around the world with a focus on family owned and organic wines. The four course pairing will be $35. Gather together your loved ones and celebrate the holidays in style. Arrival at 5 p.m. in the Madrona Room — Dinner at 5:30 p.m. — Show at 7:30 p.m. on Center Stage.
