Topic for this Meeting : Your Emergency Food Supply

Wednesday, March 13, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Eastsound Fire Station

— from Natalie Menacho —

Nothing gets our tummies rumbling more than the thought of a food shortage.

We’ll be hearing from our island’s main grocery stores on what to expect in the event of a natural disaster. Spoiler alert: Prep Yo’ Self! We’ll talk about prepping your pantry for disaster as well as tips and techniques for stocking and preserving food for the long haul.

We will also be hearing from the Anchor Farmers at the first Orcas Community Participatory Agriculture (OCPA) garden on how to create food sovereignty and work with other islanders to grow nourishing food, build community, and replicate this model throughout the island.

Space is limited. Please arrive early.

Be Ready Orcas is a volunteer effort organized by Natalie Menacho and Cory Harrington – Two Orcas Island residents, passionate about community resilience and disaster preparedness. If you were forwarded this email by a friend, please sign up for your own meeting updates at BeReadyOrcas.org
