Ernest Callenbach, author of “Ecotopia”, a classic book enjoyed by millions, will be offering a talk “Recipe for a Sustainable Future” at the Odd Fellows Hall Saturday, March 21 at 3 p.m.. A finger food potluck follows.
The talk will focus on sustainability and community, other local questions, personal life-style issues, and national political/economic ones.
The event will be a benefit for the Orcas Island Recreation Program ($10 entry or greater donation to the O.I.R.P.) and is brought to the community in collaboration with Kangaroo House, The Exchange, Patrick Bennett’s Good Earth Works and the Orcas Island Recreation Program, according to Orcas Rec Director Didier Gincig.
Callenbach’s books, Ecotopia and Ecotopia Rising opened a generation to a different way of living that is still informative more than thirty years later, says Gincig.
There will be no pre-sale tickets. For more information, contact 360-376-5339, didierg@co.san-juan.wa.us or www.orcasrec.org.
