Friday September 6, 6 p.m., Orcas Library
— from Mary Pugh for Orcas Island Library —
The Library will host author Amita Lhamo on Friday September 6 at 6 p.m. in the Ann Graves Reading Room. In her new book, Dandelions Blooming in the Cracks of Sidewalks Amita will be reading stories as she shares some of the gifts she received in her work with dying, and invite audience members into a conversation about life, death, and kindness.
Amita Lhamo has studied with Lakota, Christian, Hindu, and Buddhist teachers, including a five-year meditation retreat within the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Amita combines her experience as a psychotherapist and hospice chaplain with her spiritual training to teach and write about the spiritual care of the dying.
Lhamo shares stories from thousands of talks as she nurtured families, friends, and individuals through the soul’s journey in death. For more information visit the Library’s website www.orcaslibrary.org.
