— from Milene Henley, Auditor —
County Auditor Milene Henley has announced that the front counter area of the Auditor’s Office will be undergoing a remodel for the next two months. The remodel will improve customer service by adding a third licensing workstation, which will reduce long lines during busy licensing periods. It will also allow two of the three workstations to do either licensing or recording, which will both reduce wait time for customers, and make more efficient use of facilities and staff time.
The remodel process will begin on Friday, February 6, with the licensing computers being moved to a temporary home in the Treasurer’s Office. At some point during Friday there will be a 1-2 hour period during which most licensing services will be unavailable. Staff will still be available to answer questions and to issue temporary permits, if needed.
For the next month, licensing will share the front counter of the Treasurer’s Office. Treasurer Rhonda Pederson and her staff are accommodating the move during their busy time of preparing and sending out tax statements, and receiving the first flush of payments. It is expected that licensing services will return to the Auditor’s office before April, which is one of the Treasurer’s busiest times of year.
The recording function of the Auditor’s Office will remain in the Auditor’s area, but will move
to an inside desk.
Customers are reminded that many licensing services, including registration renewals, changes of address, and reports of sale, can be done online, at www.dol.wa.gov.
