The San Juan County Auditor is seeking volunteers to write opposing arguments to ballot measures in the November 2022 General Election. The arguments will be published in print and online versions of the Voters’ Pamphlet.
The San Juan County Charter Review Committee is sending four proposed Home Rule Charter amendments to the ballot:
- Proposition No. 1 – Establishing a New Position of Public Advocate for the Purpose of Helping Citizens Navigate the San Juan County Systems
- Proposition No. 2 – Amending language in the County Charter to provide a clarification regarding budget provisions for the Charter Review Commission (CRC), staff support requirements, and further resolution regarding the term length, procedures and duties of the CRC, and the role of the Prosecuting Attorney
- Proposition No. 3 – Amending the current voting rules to include Ranked Choice Voting
- Proposition No. 4 – Amending Signature Requirements Concerning Initiatives and Referendums
The proposed amendments for the Charter Review Committee can be found, in full length, HERE. All four measures have “pro” committees and are in need of “con” committees to supply statements against the measures.
Each committee may have up to three members, though members may seek the advice of any number of people to assist in developing the statements. Each committee’s statement is due by August 24.
If interested in serving on one of the committees, please contact San Juan County Auditor, Milene Henley by August 22, at mileneh@sanjuanco.com or (360) 370-7558.
