Playfest ’10 is the fifth annual presentation of short plays written by playwrights living on Orcas Island. Seven plays were selected for this year’s playfest. They are:
After by Anita Leigh Holladay directed by Patty Monaco
After and After by Sandy Thompson directed by Bev Leyman
Clear! by Ron Herman directed by Melinda Milligan
Of Men and Motorcycles by Jackie Bates directed by Sandy Thompson
One on One by John Aschoff directed by Doug Bechtel
Play Noir by Michele Grisky directed by Ron Herman
Yours, Truly by Louise Carnachan directed by Ron Herman.
Auditions for Playfest 2010 are today, March 23.
There are roles for seventeen actors in a wide range of ages. Auditions will be held at the Grange from 7 to 10 p.m. this evening. (There were also auditions on March 20 — only one audition needed per actor/actress).
Please show up in loose fitting clothing and be prepared for some fun stage work and readings from the plays. Contact Ron Herman at 831-234-4960 or by e-mail at santabearkitkat@hotmail.com for additional information.
Acting experience is not necessary. The plays are available for review at the Orcas Island Library at the Front Desk.
A total of 18 plays were submitted for PlayFest 2010. The selection committee read the submitted scripts, given the playwrights written feedback and read plays that were revised and resubmitted based on the feedback.
There will be just four performances of Playfest 2010
Sandwiched between Orcas Center’s production of Gypsy and the Choral Society’s Spring Concert, Playfest 2010 will have just four performances. Performances will be at 7:30 pm at the Grange on Thursday, April 29th, Friday, April 30th, Saturday, May 1st and Sunday, May 2nd. All tickets are $5 and will be available Darvill’s Book Store and, for the first time, on line at Brown Paper Tickets.
