Orcas Center is gearing up for 2024 with two fantastic plays slated for the Main Stage. Auditions will be held November 6 and 7 from 6pm-9pm for both She Kills Monsters, written by Qui Nguyen and directed by Jamey Morarity; and Into the Woods by Stephen Sondheim directed by Jake Perrine.
She Kills Monsters will have a run of seven shows from February 29, 2024 – March 9, 2024. She Kills Monsters is an action-packed Dungeons & Dragons adventure (yes, there are fight scenes) which follows a young woman’s quest to learn more about her dead sister and ultimately herself. It is a comedic, heartfelt story of sisterhood, friendship, identity, and grief which unfolds with each role of the dice. To sign up for a 15-minute audition slot: email jamey@orcascenter.org.
Into the Woods will have a run of ten shows between April 25th and May 12th, 2024. This pinnacle of the American musical theatre canon first appeared on Broadway in 1987 and has gone on to become one of Sondheim’s most-beloved and most-produced musicals. Mashing up the storylines and themes of multiple Brothers Grimm fairy tales – such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, and others, the cast delves into humor and poignancy as each story must go “Into the Woods” to find its resolution.
