Since the first of November, a charming display of gingerbread houses resembling various stores in downtown Eastsound have been on display at Islanders Bank. They were made by Susie Frank. Each one is clearly unique and replicate in exquisite detail The Outlook Inn, Allium Restaurant, the Lower Tavern and Wildflour Bakery that even includes the little kiosk in front, just to name a few.
These delightful creations will be auctioned off on December 14th (extended from November 29) with the proceeds of the action being generously donated by Susie to the Orcas Island Food Bank.
Susie Frank is the owner of Edible Artistry: Custom gingerbreads, cakes and cookies, event planning and catering. It took her the entire month of October to make them, and transporting them to Islanders Bank had to be a feat of similar significance.
Here’s how you can get one. Visit Islanders Bank before December 14 and choose the one you fancy most. Then enter your name and bid price in the book on the table where the gingerbread houses sit. You will not need to be there to win; however, f you really want to be sure you get the one you want, it would behoove you to be at Islanders Bank just before the auction closes to be sure your bid wins.
Even if you don’t bid, they are worth the visit just for the joy of seeing Susie’s creations — and take the kids!
