This year more than 20 Orcas Island student-athletes have laced up cleats, tied their running shoes, and hit the field—thanks to the Athletic Assistance Fund. A collaborative effort between the Orcas Community Resource Center and the Booster Club, this fund was created to ensure that no student is kept from playing due to financial barriers.

From registration fees and athletic gear to shoes and uniforms, the fund covers the essential costs that can otherwise hold young athletes back. For families juggling rising expenses, it’s a game-changer—one that opens the door to connection, confidence, and personal growth.

“Sports offer so much more than physical activity,” shared a Booster Club volunteer. “They’re a space for teamwork, self-discipline, and school spirit. We’re proud to help make that possible for every student.”

Applications and donations are accepted year-round. If you know a student who could benefit—or would like to support the fund—contact the Resource Center or Booster Club today. Applications for this season can be submitted at form.jotform.com/232191124308144.
