Monday, April 7, 6:00 pm at Darvill’s Bookstore

Celebrate Poetry Month with poets Marjorie Manwaring and Kelsea Habecker at the Artsmith Salon Series at Darvill’s Bookstore on Monday, April 7, 6:00 pm.

Marjorie Manwaring is a former Artsmith Artist Residency Fellow whose poetry peeks into the strange nooks of
oddities and peculiarities for a hilarious yet insightful look at the human condition. Kelsea Habecker’s time spent living among the Inuit
in Alaska’s Arctic region also gives profound insight into the commonalities of culture and what makes us fundamentally human while also questioning humanity and the planet’s future as the polar ice cap melts and the Inuit way of life is threatened. Habecker’s book, All Out, finds hope in hardship while Manwaring’s book, Search for a Velvet-Lined Cape, mines the lives of magicians to mirror the magic in all our lives.

The reading will feature delicious hors d’oeuvres and will be followed by a fascinating author Q&A. Be sure to ask Kelsea about surviving -50 degree temperatures, and find out why Marjorie abandoned her Poetry Appreciation Class for cats.
