Monday, April 7, 6 p.m., Darvill’s
— from Jill McCabe Johnson —
T.S. Eliot said “April is the cruelest month,” but Artsmith’s April Poetry Month reading at Darvill’s Bookstore features two poets whose work celebrates the magic and wonder of life. When reading the poems in Marjorie Manwaring’s poetry collection, Search for a Velvet-Lined Cape, one marvels at the balance humor and amazement, not unlike watching a magician keep a volunteer’s levitating body afloat. Poet Kelsea Habecker’s work explores a different form of wonder as she recounts her experiences living in an Inuit community in Alaska’s remote Arctic. Come be amazed at their poetic prestidigitations and appreciation for a life of wonderment and awe.
The reading takes place Monday, April 7, at Darvill’s Bookstore in Eastsound, and will be followed by hors d’oeuvres, question and answer, and booksigning. The Artsmith Salon Series occurs every month, Fall through Spring, at Darvill’s Bookstore, bringing a range of talented writers to the islands. For more information, go to orcasartsmith.org.
