The Visual Arts Committee (VAC) at Orcas Center is responsible for creating a gallery-like atmosphere in the lobby and the Madrona Room, providing beautiful and interesting art every month. The group plans a yearly schedule, procures the artists and art, then hangs and displays a new exhibit each month. On the first of Friday of each month the VAC provides an opening reception for the artists and the entire community.
Throughout the months of December and January the members of the VAC take the opportunity to exhibit their own art. The current members of the VAC are; Mary Jane Elgin, Joan Fletcher, Marilee Holm, Ann Jones, Rick Jones, Vanessa Julian, Peg Laycock, Heidi Lindberg, Pat Littlewood, Janis Mattox, Leon Rosenblatt, Nina Sahlin and Kathy Youngren.
The opening reception for the upcoming exhibit will be Friday, December 7, 5:30 to 7 p.m. The members of the VAC invite all members of the community to come and celebrate their art.
