In recognition of Poetry Month, and to celebrate our treasure trove of Orcas Island poets, Orcas Issues is pleased and honored to offer daily poetry during April.
Her Birthday
is the seventh
and this year, as I suppose
on most years,
I think of her
on the seventh
Perhaps it is the sun
or the touch of warmth
but there she stands
unsatisfactorily dead
and the being of her
pries into my memory
on her would-have-been
seventieth
gilded with daffodils
and foals
I think of her
on the seventh
and I am lonely
