Discovered

— Samuel Webster —

it was as if a great talon
had ripped the night sky
laid bare the secrets hidden
behind a veil of despair
the darkest corners
no respite
wrenched forth from
alcoves of silence
we have discovered
we have ascertained
we have noted
etched with acid on steel plates
the accounting
the remorse
no recourse
no tedious screed
back into darkness
retreat retreat!
sweet blackness embraces
again unseen
