In recognition of Poetry Month, and to celebrate and highlight our treasure trove of Orcas Island poets, Orcas Issues is pleased and honored to again offer daily poetry during April.

TWO A.M. CURTAIN CALL

— by Bruce Adkins —

Reflected light
from the harvest moon
finds me
drinking wine and
reading William Carlos Williams

A tiny slender fly
…..lands
……….stretches its wings
……………like a ballerina
then dances across my
open page

I join her

Architectural Longing

— by Bruce Adkins —

With all the vegetarian women
in the world
I would think that there would be
one
who is drawn to me
Or at least
repelled from someone else
into my arms

Until that day arrives
I am here with cantilevered lips
waiting for
my buttress

BYCATCH

— by Bruce Adkins —

Hiding behind a full moon
She holds her heart out
like a lure

Ignoring the old man in
the mirror he
takes the bait

Realizing far too late
he can never
remove
the hook
