||| FROM LEARNER LIMBACH & CAITLIN LECK for ORCAS FOOD CO-OP |||

Due to having several positive Covid cases among Co-op staff over the past 24 hours, and to limit further exposure, we are moving to a virtual format (zoom) for the co-sponsored Orcas Food Co-op Annual Meeting / Food System Plan Orcas town hall event. We apologize for any inconvenience, and we look forward to trying for a separate in-person gathering later in the year where we can share food and mingle!

Registration link for both (joint) events: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUpc-uqrDwjGNHd0f4PhI7VcWHsMg47eIbc

All are welcome to join both the Co-op Annual Meeting and the Food System Plan town hall, and you may also choose to join for just one part of the event.

The other Food System Plan town hall events on Lopez and San Juan will remain in-person as scheduled. See below for details, and please reach out with any questions:

Food System Plan for San Juan County:

Building off of three years of research and engagement by the San Juan County Food System Team, the Food System Plan will serve as a shared roadmap to equitably relocalizing our food system. The Plan offers specific strategies designed to foster a thriving local food culture and economy that is grounded in ecological resilience, justice, and innovation, and will be published in Summer 2023.

These town hall events are one component of a broader engagement effort to shape the Food System Plan and will be facilitated by Maggi Adamek of Terra Soma, the Food System Team’s consultant and guide in the planning process. These engaging sessions are an opportunity to give feedback on the draft plan and help prioritize objectives and strategies to ensure that San Juan County’s future food supply is robust and resilient.

We all have a role in our local food system, and your voice and experience is crucial to shape this roadmap – please join us to share your perspectives!

Please reach out to foodsystem.sjc@gmail.com for any accessibility needs or information. For more information and to see the latest draft of the plan, visit sjiagguild.com/sjc-food-system.
