Monday, February 17, 6 – 8 p.m., Orcas Library
— from Marta Neilsen for Orcas Recycling Services —
Anyone interested in community scale composting is invited to the February 17 meeting, 6-8 p.m. at the Orcas Library.
A series of meetings around the island last fall, sponsored by Orcas Recycling Services (ORS, introduced this idea of eliminating food waste from our local garbage stream while creating a reusable resource.
This group will offer many ways to become involved. The goal is to educate, explore and develop several models that can bring individuals, businesses and institutions into localized composting. As an island, we can significantly sequester CO2 and decrease our hauled garbage weights.
Please join us and feel free to call or text Marta Nielson @ 360-317-4142 with questions.
