— from Don Webster for Orcas Lions Club —
On Saturday, March 31, the Orcas Island Lions Club held its annual Easter Egg Hunt at Moran State Park. About 145 children participated with their friends and family in attendance. The number of children is about 20 more than recent years which means Mr. Wabbit will need to bring more chocolate for next year.
The Orcas Island Lions Club would like to thank the staff of Moran State Park for their efforts to help us with the venue which works so well for the hunt. We also want to recognize the roughly 20 Lions Club members and Volunteers who started by filling approximately 750 eggs and 150 gift bags last week and subsequently undertook Saturday’s setup and cleanup.
Special thanks go to Maarta Sanders, our 2018 Easter Egg Chairperson.
For those who attended and enjoyed our annual Easter Egg Hunt, it takes about 50 hours of volunteer time to support the five minutes of enthusiastic egg hunting, but the excitement and joy on the faces of the participants makes it all worthwhile.
