A sunset sail on the Orion is one of the many auction attractions

SeaDoc’s annual fundraiser, Wine ‘n’ Sea Auction, is fast approaching. The SeaDoc Society is a program of the Wildlife Health Center, a center of excellence at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. This event is a chance to meet and connect with people who care about the health of the Salish Sea ecosystem.

The auction is being held this year on Saturday, July 9 at 5 p.m.

Private dollars make their work possible. Because the funding comes largely from donations, they are able to fund and do science that focuses on overlooked problems in the ecosystem. While many organizations are doing great work to save and restore the Salish Sea, SeaDoc is the only organization with a mandate to increase scientific knowledge and collaboration across the ecosystem. Their focus on veterinary health gives a unique, wide-ranging view on the problems facing the Salish Sea.

And they are auctioning off some pretty amazing stuff, including:

  • Southest Alaska trip for two on the M/V Catalyst.
  • Two tickets and backstage passes to the August 27 Josh Groban concert in Seattle at Key Area.
  • A day of classic sailing on the historic yawl, Orion.
  • Darwin Cruise for 2 to the Islands of Galapagos.

The RSVP deadline is July 3. If you haven’t reserved your tickets ($150 per person), please call the office at 376-3910 or email Jean at jmspalti@ucdavis.edu. The event is outdoors, and the silent auction will take place on a shaded lawn by the water. Dinner is in a tent in the orchard. As onshore breezes are common, a shawl or sweater is advised.

If you need childcare, call 360-376-3910 for recommendations.
