Linda Slone will lead a discussion of The Help by Kathyrn Stockett at Darvill’s Bookstore this afternoon.
In The Help, author Kathryn Stockett describes three extraordinary women whose determination to tell their real stories instead of living silent lives forever changes a town, and the way women–mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends–view one another.
The main character, Skeeter, faces conflicts of role expectations, racism and self-wroth as she attempts to both live by the old rules and tell the story of the women who are “the Help.” The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don’t.
All are welcome to participate in the discussion.
